Wait, what is Free RPG Day?

Exactly what it sounds like – Free RPG Day is a day where you can go to your friendly local game store to get free stuff! Generally speaking they’ll be giving away quick-start adventures that will let you try out new tabletop roleplaying games without the financial commitment of buying huge expensive rulebooks. Many game stores also offer game demos and sessions being run throughout the day so that you can jump in and participate and try new things. Because trying new things is awesome.

How do I know if my local game store is participating?

Easy! Head on over to http://freerpgday.com/ and check out the Participating Retailer Map. If they aren’t participating this year, maybe you could share some information with them to help them participate next year. And don’t forget that our friends over at DriveThruRPG always have some freebies available, too!

If you’ve never tried a tabletop roleplaying game, or just want to branch out in to new games, this is a great way to get involved. Your local store is also a great hub for meeting gamers with similar interests as you, as well!
