Because things never go as planned. Never. Well, not for Chuck, at least. He'd tried to drown the deception in a whiskey triple, but deception still floated around the pub. Another double didn't quite do the trick, either, but by the time he'd reached the um, how many? He'd never been a maths freak. Not by the time he'd reached this amount of whiskey. Well, anyway. By the time he'd reached that glass, he wasn't too sure what there was to be disappointed about.
It wasn't the end of the world.
He turned his head, trying to concentrate on other worldly problems, problems he might have a chance to solve. One girl, kinda hot with her four arms and scars, winked at him, which only prompted Chuck to close another button of his checkered red shirt. Not that the girl wasn't hot. She was. But those four-armed, green, and often scarred people (or creatures?), he saw them too often for his taste, and he wasn't sure if they were real or inside his head.
This was what he'd tried to prove, earlier tonight. He'd tried to enter in communication with them, but to no avail. Maybe he did need to go out more, maybe he was hallucinating space aliens. The 28 year old man, quite handsome, though his distrustful ways and avoidant nature did not tend to showcase it, wasn't necessarily a bad person. He'd just been way too absorbed by his analysis and programs to differenciate between reality and fiction.
Was this a new frequency his machines were picking up? Was something from another... place trying to contact him? Why? Why him? He'd tried to send a frequency back, but no, nothing. And now, what was worse, Chuck didn't know if he was crazy.
Fun place to be, really.

Re: Indesirable [Open!!!]
Penelope watched the scared, four armed woman wink at the drunk at the bar and rolled her brown eyes. It was so typical of these aliens to appear and make humans think they were out of their minds. She had been seeing them since she was thirteen and now she was twenty-three. Sighing, she shoved herself out of her chair and stormed over to the woman."Oi! What do you think you're doing?" she snapped, arms folded over her chest as she glared the alien down,"the least you could do is let 'im know he ain't crazy."
The four arms took place on the woman's hips as she glared before shooting another look over at the drunk and winking at him again. She did not speak, just stood and stared at Penelope once more before disappearing in a shimmering silver light. Dark eyes rolled once more before her arms dropped to her sides and she stuck her hands into the pockets of her jeans. The twenty-three year old shot a glance over her shoulder at the man before making a decision. These things had probably been showing themselves to him for a while for him not to seem to alarmed by them.
Spinning on her heel the woman walked over and took a seat next to him, ordering a rum & coke, and turning to face the man. She crossed her legs as she contemplated the man, should she just jump into the topic or introduce herself first? Her drink arrived and she took a small sip before looking at the man once more."How long have you been seeing them?"

Re: Indesirable [Open!!!]
Charles sipped on the whiskey, contemplating his situation, philosophically speaking. He gave his glass a little shake, absorbed into the amber liquid's twirling. So he was caught between his own mind and reality. It wasn't a first, really, that his reality and the reality that was before his eyes weren't identical. Kind of like glitches, really, but the whiskey surely couldn't be helping by now. Especially since now that he'd put his empty glass down on the bar counter, he was seeing it double.
But it was okay, Chuck was okay. And it would almost be funny if he'd had it in him to laugh. And if he could still see the woman, too. It seemed that in the time he'd taken to look at his drink, she'd disappeared. Or else his drunken brain had cut out the fantasy. Shame, though. If she was real, Chuck might have wanted to... could have... but he was probably too drunk... but anyway, yeah.
Head whirring suddenly with mathematical formulas destined to magnetically attract hot female aliens, Chuck somehow motioned for another drink. This was probably the one drink too much, the criticial hit, the one he'd regret tomorrow when he'd need to get on and work on his research. The one that would nail him to bed, praying the great white porcelain god, wishing for fastfood to cure him.
But that he didn't think about, because there seemed to have appeared, in this very instant, and just beside him, a fully human girl. And not bad looking, either, though his double vision was making this a lot less sexy.
'Errr,' he started, slurring. Chuck suddenly sat up straight, not liking one bit how his voice was sounding. He did his best to replace his thoughts, and looked towards the girl, and away from the whiskey, his bitter friend.
'Months, I should say.' He refrained from asking if she did too. She clearly did, if she was asking him. 'Why?'

Re: Indesirable [Open!!!]
Penelope waited patiently as the drunken man got his thoughts together, sipping on her drink as she waited. When he did answer, seeming to have pulled himself together enough to speak, she could only rub the bridge of her nose. They had been showing up to this man for months? They had not even bothered to explain anything to him? Explain that only a few could see them, that even less then that were lucky to get them to talk after the explanation. Sighing, the set her drink down and placed her folded hands on the counter.
"Why?" she repeated, closing her eyes for a moment to get her own thoughts together,"because they should have made more contact if it's been months. They normally show themselves to you for about a month and then going into the second month will contact you either by some kind of writing that takes a good while to translate or coming up and speaking. They only send the letter when they aren't sure of something...or if you've made them angry."
She paused and just stared at him, wondering why they had not come up and explained it to him....or had they?
"You haven't received a letter full of odd words that make no sense or written in like," she waved her hand around trying to think of the word,"a lot of languages, have you?"
If he had received the letter then they were uncertain of him knowing about them or were just messing with his mind, but if they had not sent the letter then they were just being mean so that they could mess with his head, make him believe he was crazy and she would not put it past them.

Re: Indesirable [Open!!!]
Chuck rubbed his temples slightly, not to sober himself up, as he was way past that point, but just to put the facts together. So, usually, they should have tried to establish some form of contact with him, should they not? If he could believe what this girl was saying, at any rate.
So much for being a scientist, too, and a maths nerd, and all. What good were all these years of study, and a Ph. D in Quantum Physics and one in Optical Physics on the way if his experiments were failing? And supposedly it sounded like they were ignoring him? That was just dandy, now, wasn't it?
'No, I haven't. Not a letter, not a memo, not an email, not a frequency.'
Well, not since the first one. His receptor had detected, months ago, an unearthly frequence, and since then, he'd tried sending a frequency back, but to no avail. Each time it had rebounded, which was exceedingly frustrating, especially since every now and then, these kind of hot, scarred, green, four-armed female creatures started to appear around him in bars, every once in a while, never talking to him, or getting closer to him, just flirting slightly, disappearing whenever he tried to get closer.
'You'd think a girl could tell me to piss off more directly, though, right?' He semi-joked.

Penelope felt like bashing her head into the counter after hearing that he had not received anything. Even after all the...chats she had had with them she had never heard of this. Normally they formed some kind of contact, yet if what he was saying were true then not only had they been appearing for months but they had yet to actually say anything to him.
She could feel a headache coming on and took another sip of her drink.'You'd think a girl could tell me to piss off more directly, though, right?' Her eyes, which she had closed as she tried to think of a reason they might be doing this, opened and she grinned slightly.
"One would think so wouldn't they? Alas, these are not normal women so they'd probably lead you on for a long period of time and then tell you to piss off...or they might just kill you."
The grin on her face showed that she was joking about the killing part.

Chuck wasn't very good with social interaction, generally speaking, and that was why he spent most of his life avoiding people, stuck in his lab doing various physics experiments most people thought were useless. And didn't understand. But anyway, he hadn't gone out looking for this, he hadn't wanted trouble, but they'd come anyway. And now, if this woman in front of him was to be trusted, then they wanted to kill him. Great.
His nature made it so interpreting emotions was difficult for him, so he took the killing part literally, and looked back at the woman, shocked.
'You mean, like... even if I haven't done anything?'
Jesus Christ, you'd think you'd actually have to piss someone off pretty bad for them to want to kill you, but ha, Chuck was just lucky like that. Jesus Christ. He ordered himself another triple.
